The current stimulus package making the rounds through Congress & being championed by Obama has money to make virtually everyone happy, but it will not make too many cows happy. Lawmakers are looking for ways to increase the price of milk which they’ll most likely achieve by reducing the nation’s dairy herd.
Of course when they send that many dairy cows to slaughter it’ll reduce the price of meat, but hey that’s another stimulus package’s problem.

The Congress of National Equality today has suggested today that Robert Redford is a racist for having opposed the Bush Administration’s attempts to auction 103,000 acres of National Park land for oil & gas development. They justify their claims saying inner-city families are facing high energy prices this winter and those prices are a direct result of environmentalism. Furthermore they said this equated to racism as a large portion of inner-city families are black.
So if you’re keeping score at home not only did white people create HIV to mess with black people, they then mismanaged disaster response, & have now resorted to environmentalism as an indirect way to smite black people. It’s a very egocentric approach to the world.
I really don’t get it, what does ‘white America’ have to do to appease this very vocal group of African-American activists. There’s a black guy in the White House, what more do you want? Should we just destroy every aspect of our environment & donate the proceeds to inner-city heating bills? It’s not like white people ever have to pay for their own heat.

The United States Senate today voted to protect upwards of two-million aces in nine states. The move was largely criticised by Republican Senators claiming that the bill didn’t properly have amendments to allow oil & natural gas exploration on the lands.
Because apparently when you declare public lands you should only do so if there is financial incentive.

As it turns out George Bush doesn’t hate black people, or at least it seems that way as evidenced by the following story.
Now I’m sure Bush will be remembered for the countless numbers of mistakes he has made while in office, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t also recognize his few achievements. One of which has been maybe the most progressive Africa agenda of any U.S. President in history.

The new European Union president is President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic, and he does not believe in climate change. He thinks that it is a dangerous myth.

I think that it’s dangerous to heed the consult of a few rogue scientists while ignoring the consensus of the majority. You can’t choose which part of science you want to believe in, and which part you don’t. People will depend on science when they fly on a plane, or go to the doctor but once science becomes even a moderate inconvenience the first reaction is to bury ones head in the sand.
I find opposition to environmentalism a little odd. Even if the current scientific consensus turns out to be wrong, what’s the worst case scenario? We have clean air to breathe, our drinking water isn’t contaminated, there are some trees left?

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfield recently defended the fur industry saying; ‘it is justified as the beasts fur comes from would kill us if they could’.

Silly me, I wasn’t even aware that large primates were in a mink’s diet.
In seriousness though, he does have a point when he says; “In a meat-eating world, wearing leather for shoes and clothes and even handbags, the discussion of fur is childish.” I think that’s true, if you criticize someone for wearing fur & then order a steak dinner, you’re a hypocrite.
I also understand what he said about the media’s exaggeration of models being too skinny. If we’re saying that skinny women can’t be in the public eye because it might make 1% of girls too skinny. Then I am saying take all fat people off of television because it has made 30% of people too fat. And obesity is one of the greatest health crises of our time.
But still, ‘kill us if they could’, really?!

This doesn’t have anything to do with the environment, I just wanted to highlight something.
Apparently the Australian government is in the process of creating a censorship filter which will cover the entire country’s internet access, & possibly slow browsing speeds up to 85%.
It’s disheartening that a first-world democracy would enact such an illiberal move.
